The Rebrand Journey: Finding Myself Through Oxalis Bliss
I started Oxalis Bliss because I was tired of the nail industry. I was tired of sitting for two hours at the salon. I was tired of paying so much for an intricate design, only for a nail to break or pop off. I was tired of being stuck with the same look for two weeks. I wanted to switch up my nails to match my outfit, to have more control over when I do my nails. I didn’t want to stress about booking appointments or getting repairs—it was all so inconvenient. And if there’s one thing about me, it’s that I love anything that makes my life more convenient.
When I first launched Oxalis Bliss, my vision was more tropical, vacation-inspired, and cutesy. But as time went on, I faced a problem: I’m not cutesy. I struggled to be the face of my own brand because it didn’t feel like me. That’s where the rebrand began.
How’s the Rebrand Going?
It’s definitely a journey. But now that I’ve settled into my own brand—cool, New York, sleek, and chic—it’s been so much easier to create content and communicate my message. I’ve found my audience: people who, like me, wanted a nail brand that wasn’t juvenile or overly cute. My customers are chic, elevated, and looking for something modern and versatile.
At the same time, this past year has been about finding myself, too. I’ve grown my brand, but I’ve also nourished my own personal growth. It’s crazy how things align when you let yourself go where you were most scared to. Over the past 13 months, I’ve learned to take a lot of risks. One quote that resonated deeply with me this year is: Fear is a mile wide and a foot deep.
I spent most of my 20s living in fear, staying in a job that looked successful on paper—New York fashion design job right out of college, promoted to design director in six years—but that was the most depressing time of my life. When you know you’re meant to do more for yourself, to break free and be your own boss, the corporate world feels crippling.
What’s Changing in Oxalis Bliss?
Right now, I’m getting the basics ready: a new logo, new fonts, a new color scheme, and new packaging. I haven’t finished the packaging yet, and the logo isn’t quite ready, but we’re getting there. I revamped my newsletter, which helped me move in the right direction.
I want Oxalis Bliss to feel like a community—a space where we share inspiration monthly. As a creative person, I want to share how I come up with designs, like the Café Nue collection. I created that line because I wanted a different take on nude nails. So many women choose nude nails because they match everything, but that also means you’re stuck with one color for two weeks. My approach? A mix of versatile designs that still match your wardrobe but give you options to switch things up when you want to.
What’s Next?
We’re rolling out new packaging and a new collection for our first-year anniversary! I can’t believe it’s been almost a year—so much has changed and improved. My new packaging will be more travel-friendly and lightweight because I’m a big advocate for doing your nails in the car. What else are you doing in there? I want my clients to be able to pop on their nails in an Uber on the way to an event or dinner. Convenience is key.
To be fully transparent, I want to elevate the packaging even more, but I need to grow sales first. The next evolution of Oxalis Bliss will come after our next growth stage. I’m patient because I know I’m creating something big. Have you ever seen an artist paint a masterpiece in a day? No—so don’t worry, all my ideas will come to life in time!
For now, we’ll be sticking to our fully recyclable acrylic boxes but revamping how we use them. I can’t wait for you to see!
We’re also improving our replacement program. If you didn’t know, we offer free shipping on replacement nails if you lose one. I realized a lot of people don’t know about this, so we’ll be rolling out the revamp alongside our anniversary collection.
Our First Influencer Event!
We’re also planning our rebrand anniversary event—our first influencer event! I want Oxalis Bliss to be an in-person experience. This will be our second in-person brand event, but the first in our new brand style and mission. I hope it opens doors for more events and ways to connect with people. One of my favorite things about vending at markets has always been meeting new people, and I want to continue that in a bigger way.
Right now, I work a full-time job to fund Oxalis Bliss, so I’ve learned to prioritize what needs rebranding first. I want to update our market booth and shipping packaging, but those will be on the back burner for now.
Funny story: The day I decided to rebrand, I got a giant box full of purple shipping supplies delivered. My business partner nearly lost it! But hey, that’s the journey.
Thank you for being part of this wild ride. I can’t wait to share everything that’s coming next!
